Scentonomy’s founder credits her 20+ year real estate career and her travels for inspiring her journey through the world of olfaction. With over 13 years in the fragrance and personal care industry we offer organic and therapeutic grade scenting options for personal care and space enhancement.

After a trip through Ancient Egypt in 2006, wellness and beauty founder, Makeba Guilan Lloyd, discovered the long history and benefits of engaging the practice of aromatherapy and perfumery as self-care practices and therapeutic modalities. While working as a New York City new development sales representative for a $1 billion portfolio, she began her journey through the world of aromatics.  In 2010 Makeba activated her sister company, Butter By Keba, a fragrance and body care brand which she also credits to providing an enhanced customer experience while selling condominiums in pre-constructed condition.

Scentonomy, is a platform that uses an certified expert-built data-driven algorithm to assist its users with curating essential oil blends based on their needs and scent preference. Additionally, it aligns uses with complementary wellness options to encourage a deeper wellness discover. Her passion for building the platform is rooted in her upbringing as a teenager living in a household where complementary and holistic wellness, such as acupuncture and herbalism, were normalized. Moreover, her own experience as a full-time caregiver to her Mother, a healthcare professional who was a huge advocate for holistic and complementary health care options, became the driving force since our inception.

Makeba Lloyd  holds certification in Aromatherapy, Aromatherapy Protocols for Cancer Care, Natural Perfumery, Ancient Egyptian Perfumery and Classic Perfumery.  She is a member of the National Association For Holistic Aromatherapists and Herbalist Without Borders.
