Our Founder

Makeba Lloyd is the founder of Butter By Keba and Scentonomy, a wellness fragrance company with a focus on personal care products, infused with certified aromatherapy and perfumery.  Its tech arm, Scentonomy, is a Digital Aromatherapy Tool and Complimentary Wellness Concierge.  
 
In Makeba's former professional life she was a lead new development sales broker representing New York City real estate developers across the boroughs with a collective portfolio worth over $1 Billion.  After a trip through Ancient Egypt, she discovered the benefits of engaging the therapeutic practice of aromatherapy and perfumery, not only as a self-care ritual, but also a method of creating her own scent-scapes using handcrafted products that served as aromatherapy tools she attributes to upgrading her sales presentations.
 
During the onset of the pandemic, when New York was shut down, Makeba chose to retire her real estate sales business and focus on her brand and production strategy.  In the process of her growth she came up with the concept and plan to build a digital application that allows customers to co-create their own aromatherapy blends with the assistance of a data driven algorithm, while introducing them to a community of holistic and complementary wellness practitioners should they desire to further their wellness journey.  Her passion for building the platform stems from her own experience as a full-time caregiver to her Mother who, as a healthcare professional, was a huge advocate for holistic and complimentary health care options.   With Makeba's leadership Scentonomy's wellness team has facilitated corporate aromatherapy and wellness experiences for some of the most well-known and established companies and institutions throughout the country.
 
Makeba holds certification in Aromatherapy, Natural Perfumery and Classic Perfumery.  She is a member of the National Association For Holistic Aromatherapists and Herbalist Without Borders.    Makeba continues to expand her knowledge in areas of aromatherapy and complimentary wellness through continued education under institutions and organizations such as the School For Aromatics and the American College For Healthcare Sciences.
 
Ms Lloyd contributes her time, resources and knowledge to Harlem's youth in partnership with local Non-Profit Hands That Make A Difference for their  Anti-Violence and Financial Literacy Initiative 'Save Our Seeds". Her weekly Aromatherapy and Perfumery Workshop series is ongoing each semester year. She looks forward to being your advocate and aggregate to the holistic wellness community.
